Words that stand on a shelf
Shelf words are free-standing 3D letters for shelves, mantelpieces and walls. Write up to three lines, such as Home Sweet Home or a family name, and give each line its own lettering style and size.
Devanagari is supported, so you can mix a Hindi or Marathi word with English ones in the same piece. With the base plate on, all three lines are joined into one piece that stands by itself.
What you can change
The simple form asks for up to three lines. In All options each line gets its own lettering style and size, from small to very large, and you can set the alignment and the gap between lines. You can also change how tall the letters stand, make them a little bolder, and adjust the base plate thickness, margin and corner rounding. Leave a line empty to use only one or two lines, and turn the base plate off if the words will be fixed to a wall.
Printing tips
- Print the base plate in one colour and change filament for the words.
- Make the most important word the largest line, and keep the others smaller.
- Check the preview for lines that are much wider than the others, and adjust the sizes so the piece looks balanced.
Selling tips
Decor sells on looks, so photograph it styled on a shelf with plants or frames. Seasonal words work well: festival greetings, wedding names and new baby names. Offer a few ready-made phrases alongside custom text so buyers can order quickly.
Questions about the shelf words
Can I use Hindi or Marathi words?
Yes. Choose Noto Sans Devanagari Bold for any line, and mix it with Latin words on the other lines.
Does it stand up on its own?
With the base plate on, the lines are joined into one free-standing piece. You can turn the base plate off in All options.
How big is it?
It scales with the text. Each line has its own size, so you can make one word stand out larger than the others.
Can I sell decor made from this file?
Yes, on the Seller plan you can print and sell as many as you like through any channel.
